FENSA Indemnity Insurance
With a conveyancing transaction, ensuring a smooth process is generally crucial to a person's peace of mind. Consequently, FENSA indemnity insurance provides vital protection against potential issues that might arise from having poorly installed window and doors.
What is FENSA Indemnity Insurance?
From 2002 onwards replacement windows and doors required a FENSA certificate in order to comply with building regulations. Responsibility for compliance rests with the authorised installers who provided the FENSA certificate in the first place. This document is consequently required by purchasers at the point the property is sold.
If it's not available, as is commonplace, then FENSA insurance can be provided instead. Cover is generally provided on the same basis as any other lack of Building Regulations or Lack of Planning Permission policies. Our FENSA product covers loss of market value, damages, and expenses arising from enforcement notices or proceedings. The policy will not cover the cost of the replacement of defective doors or glazing.
Why is a FENSA certificate important?
It means you have used a competent installer who is registered to install double glazed windows and doors. Ultimately, FENSA certification assures a future buyer that the installation has been completed to a certain standard.
