• S1168: A sole practitioner who has been running for two years on his own has now had to care for his aged father with dementia and is looking to reduce his hours. • B11513: Our client is a UK registered company and a Spanish not-for-profit company which - since 2014 - have represented thousands of victims of pension and investment scams.  They have brought civil, criminal and regulatory cases against a variety of defendants over the years: advisers, pension trustees and insurance companies.  They have also mounted vigorous, high-profile publicity campaigns to warn the public against becoming the next victims.  Additionally, they now have a substantial book of FSCS claims which need to be processed.  But both the work carried out on publicity as well as on FSCS case communication and preparation now fall under the auspices of the FCA.  Therefore, they are looking to collaborate or possibly merge with either a claims management company or a law firm (or possibly both) in order to be compliant.  They would also consider the possibility of acquiring an active or dormant licensed firm.  The main purpose of the firm is to act as a funnel for claimants into new or existing group claims, and as a strainer to try to prevent new people from ever needing to become victims and claimants.  But - as many of the people involved are UK residents - they can only continue to do this effectively under the umbrella of an SRA or FCA regulated firm.  They currently have a book of more than £100m worth of various categories of claims which need administering - and also need to continue to build the book so that more claimants can be directed towards viable routes to recovery. The companies are currently privately funded, and the owner is a former tax adviser and journalist.  An existing law firm or CMC which is already active in this area would be the ideal partner or collaborator.

• Northwood: Well established law firm with two Family legal aid contracts: These commenced in November of 1999 and renewed in 2021, for another 3 to 5 years. The current holder will retain the physical offices and, with 27 years PQE, is willing to act as the supervisor for the acquiring firm with the LAA, for a fee depending upon the level of involvement required.
