  • S1127: Well established law firm with two Family legal aid contracts: The first is based in Northwood, covering Middlesex and Hertfordshire, and a second based in Burnham covering Buckinghamshire and Berkshire. These commenced in November of 1999 and renewed in 2021, for another 3 to 5 years. The current holder will retain the physical offices and, with 27 years PQE, is willing to act as the supervisor for the acquiring firm with the LAA, for a fee depending upon the level of involvement required. LEXCEL Accredited. The firm has enjoyed strong growth in 2021 increasing turnover by 21% and profit before tax up from 20% to 60%.

     

  • S1137: Established in 2008 and based in Cheshire this Ltd company law firm is 65% residential and 20% commercial conveyancing, CQS registered, and 15% matrimonial and family, and a member of Resolution, with genuine and identified cross-selling opportunities. PI cover in IPT is $63k and renewal is on the 1st of April. 2 claims in 2013 and 1in 2020 are all settled. Not outstanding. The firm has additional cybercrime insurance in place. Average profit over last 3 years of £180k with significant growth forecast in 2021 and current WIP of £200k from 250 live cases and c400 open heading to their forecast of £550k in 2021. 2 directors + 3 conveyancers + PA/Secretary and 3 part-time admin. They are on all Lending panels except the two requiring 5 partners/directors. No legal aid. Willing to stay for up to 8 years with a consultancy contract. Asking £300,000 - £150k on completion and £150k in 12 months.

     

  • S1143: We have a SIPPs (self-invested personal pension) claims management company, based in Bournemouth, for sale, or merger, or replacement of two of three current partners. Established in 2009 our client would like to remain with the firm but is open to all offers/structures for consideration. His fellow shareholders would like to sell the company and initially, he would like to explore the possibility of buying out at least one fellow shareholder or the two of them. He would be happy to remain with the business, either retaining his shares or as an employee. The company position regarding work is as follows: - Lodged claims being handled by the firm of c. £1.5m, of which they charge 20% plus VAT, so they have potential fees of c. £300,000 plus VAT. They have sent local solicitors claims to the value of £498,000 of which there is an agreement in place where they receive 10% plus VAT.   • S1145: Due to circumstances beyond the control of the seller he has asked me to re-list his ABS law firm with current PI insurance in place. The renewal date for PI is 1st Feb.   • S1165: We have a partnership based in West London since 1997 for sale. They offer residential conveyancing, notary public, crime, debt collection, employment, immigration, and probate and estate administration. 2021 turnover slightly down at £158k but net profit up from £71k to £125k inc Bounce Back income. Forecast secured at £150k but improvement on this expected. No claims, and PI renewal secured. WIP of £20k+. One solicitor and one paralegal. Solicitor will consider an ongoing consultancy, prior to his retirement, and the paralegal will stay if required. On all panels except Leeds and Kent Rotary. No legal aid contracts.   • S1166: Based near Manchester a will writing company was formed in 1999 with over 5000 wills in store of which 2000 are on a reserve executor basis with a strong cross-sell of funeral plans, turning over £500k with forecasts of £750k, including £30k storage charges. Currently have 400 open cases. 9 employees. The owner will consider a long period of earn-out.

     

  • S1168: A sole practitioner who has been running for two years on his own has now had to care for his aged father with dementia and is looking to reduce his hours. The SP fee earns in conveyancing, family, and general civil litigation. He employs an Immigration consultant. Previously the practice was managed for 25+ years. In addition, he conducted 90% of all civil litigation and large family cases for his employer. In 2008 he set up what became a very successful PI department. He is still in contact with all the regular clients, and most have joined him in his current practice.
